Maine State Library seeks ex-French-American newspapers for digitization project

The Maine State Library strives to gather and protect newspapers revealed for the French-American group in Maine.

Adam Fisher, director of collections growth and digital initiatives, mentioned the library is about to launch its fourth spherical of a nationally funded effort to digitize outdated Maine newspapers.

This time round, Fisher says, they’re specializing in underrepresented populations just like the French-Individuals in Maine.

“Through the years, various French-language newspapers have been revealed in Maine with a selected deal with the French-American group and French Canadian immigrants in a few of our cities, and this provides us digitization, preservation, and on-line entry to those newspapers.”

Fisher says 30 or extra French-language newspapers are revealed in Maine, however solely half are in any organized assortment.
